Gazebo Palm Coast Washington Oaks Park

While vacationing at the Legacy Vacation Resorts in Palm Coast we were looking forward to visiting Washington Oaks Gardens State Park. We found the park to be exceptionally beautiful. The formal gardens side offers visitors a peaceful stroll through winding trails. You will be walking within a scenic oak hammock with reflecting ponds, gazebos and fragrant rose gardens. Named a Florida State Parks “National Gold Medal Winner” it is America’s first two-time winner!

TOWERING Live Oak Tree!

The center piece in one area of the park is a massive ancient Live Oak tree. The tree is magnificently beautiful and impressive to see. I felt dwarfed standing next to this regal tree.

Washington Oaks Garden State Park also offers a beach area with an unusual shoreline of coquina rock formations. This part of the park is located across the street from the gardens along the Atlantic coast. Sunbathing along this part of the park is enjoyed but there is no formal swimming area here due to the coquina rock formations found along the shore. The coquina rocks make this area the ideal place for beach-combing, photography and tidal pool searching. Fishing, picnicking, bird watching and short trails for hiking are also favorite activities at Washington Oaks State Park.Visitors can picnic and fish from either the Atlantic beach side on the east side or the seawall along the Matanzas River on the park’s west boundary.
