The Dinosaur Store & Museum

The Dinosaur Store & Museum in Cocoa Beach, FL is part of my list of Enjoyable Things To Do on Vacation in Cocoa Beach, FL. I’ve been to multiple museums and dinosaur museums across America. I’ve even seen dinosaur bones still in the Earth halfway exposed before. What made this particular museum stand out to me was a couple of things. The staff was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and very capable of answering any questions I had no matter how difficult they may seem to answer. And also how up to date they were with their exhibits. There were many things here that I had never seen before. They had real bones and artifacts and they also had replicas. These were high quality replicas and were done in such a way that they were almost indistinguishable from the real thing.

Giganotosaurus

The Dinosaur Museum & Store in Cocoa Beach Florida has an awesome display setup of a Giganotosaurus.

There was a dinosaur that lived on this Earth that looked very similar to the T-Rex but was actually bigger and was called the Giganotosaurus. The real bones of the Giganotosaurus were found in Argentina and are not permitted to be removed. The only way for them to display this dinosaur to you is by using a replica which is what you see in the image above. And there are actually only a few replicas in the United States. It’s a very neat thing to see and is easily appreciated.

The 2nd floor is filled with dinosaurs, and they did a great job with the landscape, lighting, and sound effects. The 3rd floor contains ancient cultures that include Egyptian, Chinese and Precolumbian dioramas and authentic artifacts. They have trilobite fossils, a giant chunk of fools gold, beautiful purple crystals, a stunning fox bat skeleton, and even megalagon sharks teeth all for sale. The Terror Bird

Terror Bird – Phorusrhacos

The Terror Bird is thought to have lived up until the earliest recorded time of humans. Look at the size of this birds beak! This was named a terror bird for a reason. The birds beak was massive and incredibly sharp all the way down to a point. It could peck at things similar to a woodpecker although more like a downward swing. It was a meat eater, and could very quickly damage a large animal.

Guanlong – Crown Dragon

I thought the look of the Guanlong Crown Dragon was very strange. Feathers can be found in the fossils, and the colors of those feathers can also be determined by DNA.

There were many other dinosaurs and other things on exhibit here at The Dinosaur Store & Museum.

I really liked this part of the museum.
They really put some time and energy into this place and it’s obvious.
